The Amazon Fire 7 is a tablet that exists predominantly within the budget-oriented Fire series from Amazon. Because of this, it doesn’t have the best specifications or the greatest display. But it certainly does get the job done when it comes to certain applications.
This begs the question, however, how long does it take for the Amazon Fire 7 to charge to 100%?
The Amazon Fire 7 takes 4 hours and 15 minutes to charge from 0 to 100% due to the included 5W charger inside the box.
In this article, we’re going to go over exactly why the Amazon Fire 7 charges so slowly and if there’s any way to fix that issue.
Amazon Fire 7 Charging Times: Explained
Featuring a maximum capacity of 5W charging, it is indicative that the Fire 7 is quite slow. So, I ran through some numbers, and here’s how the charging times panned out for this particular tablet:
Battery Percentage | Charging Time |
20% | 35 minutes |
40% | 1 hours and 10 minutes |
60% | 2 hours and 20 minutes |
80% | 3 hours and 30 minutes |
100% | 4 hours and 15 minutes |
Does the Amazon Fire 7 Support Fast Charging?
No, the Amazon Fire 7 does not support fast charging. It houses a standard USB-C port, and the included brick provides only 5W of charging. I tested whether the Fire 7 would charger quicker if I plugged in a charger with higher wattage and did not notice any difference.
Therefore, for all intents and purposes, 5W is the highest you can go to when it comes to charging speed on the Amazon Fire 7.
Does the Amazon Fire 7 Support Wireless Charging?
No, the Amazon Fire 7 does not support wireless charging. Since it has a plastic case, there’s no conductive material present on the back of the case, which can allow for wireless charging. Because of this and the fact that it has no electromagnet inside, the Fir7 does not support wireless charging.
Does The Fire 7 Charge Slowly?
Yes, the Amazon Fire 7 does charge slowly and isn’t the tablet you’d want to use if you were in a pinch. The tablet barely goes over 20% if you charge it for more than 30 minutes. It is clear that the tablet was meant for usage when it is either almost always plugged in, or you have the ability to charge for an extended period of time.
Since the tablet does come in extremely cheap, it does make sense that Amazon would skimp out on the charging speed in lieu of bringing in improvements such as the inclusion of a USB-C port. However, it would’ve been lovely if we at least saw 10-15W charging, as that would have made a massive difference in the charging speed.
What is Amazon’s Fire 7 Tablet Battery Life?
The Amazon Fire 7 tablet has a battery life of up 9-10 hours of reading, browsing the web, watching videos, and listening to music, etc. However, actual battery life may vary depending on usage, settings, and other factors.
It’s worth mentioning that battery life can be affected by various factors, such as screen brightness, Wi-Fi usage, and the types of apps being used. If you are going to use high-demanding apps your battery is going to drain faster. On average your battery will last around 7 hours.
