The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 takes four hours and thirty minutes(4.5h) to charge with the included 7 Watt charger. Since it supports fast charging, the tablet can be charged in three hours and twenty minutes if you purchase the option 15 Watt charger.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 does support fast charging. Since the tablet has a 7040 mAh battery, you’ll have to make do with charging times that go above three hours.
And, what’s more, is that Samsung only includes a 7W charger out of the box. So, you’ll have to purchase the optional 15W charger for greater charging speeds. As of yet, this is the charging speed that we have experienced with both chargers:

Of course, your charging times may greatly vary depending on the environment and how low your battery was in the first place. We do not recommend dropping your battery to below 20% as the charging time is quite a lot.
How To Enable Fast Charging On Samsung Galaxy Tab A8
Fast charging is not enabled by default on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8. So, if you purchase the additional 15W charger, you’ll have to enable fast charging from Settings; here’s how.
- Open the Settings application on your Samsung Galaxy Tab A8
- Scroll down and tap on Battery and device care
- After doing so, tap on Fast Charging
Note: If the option is greyed out for you, you will need to disconnect your tablet from the charger and then tap on the option again.

Fast charging is a welcome feature on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8. However, the speed isn’t all that fantastic. But it still is better than the sluggishly slow 7W charger that the A8 comes bundled with. In my experience it makes sense to invest $13 for a fast charger, it will save you more than 1 hour per day.
