  • Display

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 is equipped with an 8.4” inch display with 1200 * 1920 pixels(270 ppi density). It has a super AMOLED display and gives a cool 80.1% screen-to-body ratio. The full-screen display is one of the tablet’s main strengths and gives a smooth viewing experience overall.

The crystal clear display alongside the dual speakers gives major movie-going vibes. The resolution is probably the best part about the display and it is evident when you use the tab.

  • Storage

The Galaxy Tab A 8.4 offers 32GB 3GB RAM. There is a dedicated slot for microSDXC and the memory storage is expandable up to 512GB. While the 32GB pre-given storage is average, the 512GB expandable storage does help a bit. We found the storage in the device underwhelming.

If you are not a heavy user then 512GB might be sufficient for you but if you are a daily user then there are cheaper tablets that offer expandable memory up to 1TB.

  • Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 comes equipped with an Android 10, One UI 3.1 OS which will upgrade to Android 11 with an update. The CPU is Octa-core 1.8 GHz. The performance is very decent and functions pretty well overall. The multi-window option in Samsung is always its strong point as well as the Multi-user option.

There is little to no lag when switching between tabs and apps in the device, while the overall experience of using different apps is smooth. There are no performance issues. It might though overheat if the load is overbearing with multiple apps and windows.

  • Design

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 has a compact, sleek design. The design of the tab is slim and it looks slim to the naked eyes. The design overall is a standard Samsung model. They have kept the design as their tried and tested design.

The device isn’t extraordinary, it still has a pretty good-looking standard design. The Galaxy Tab A 8.4 comes in just one color – Mocha.

  • Camera

A very workable camera that Samsung has installed in the Galaxy Tab A 8.4. Nothing fancy but two standard cameras. One main camera which is 8 MP and comes with an Auto-focus and records video at 1080@30fps, while the selfie camera or the front camera is 5 MP with fixed focus.

The camera quality is good and standard and as said before nothing extraordinary but good enough to take instant photos and quality video calls.

  • Note Taking Experience

In two words – really good. The display first of all is wide enough to maneuver through the whole thing, you don’t get cramped for space. The smooth display and immaculate resolution help in the note-taking experience on the whole.

The built-in keyboard, while not spacious, also doesn’t mean it’s cramped. It does its job and is very usable. The touchscreen is really good as you would expect from a Samsung product and the brightness of the tab is good.

  • Battery Life

Battery life is very strong on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4. The tab is equipped with Li-Po 5000 mAh, non-removable battery. It comes with fast charging as well. The battery easily lasts a day or 10 hrs of video recording and viewing. One charge is good enough to last the day.

  • Connectivity

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 has a Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct connection or you can connect it via hotspot at your own convenience. It is also equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, A2DP, LE. There is no radio or NFC but it does have a GPS function.

The device also has a USB Type-C 2.0 port. An accelerometer is available in the tab as well. The tab has the LTE(Sim card) provision as well but it is limited to 4G networks.

  • Portability

The Galaxy Tab A 8.4 has good portability. It comes as no surprise considering the device is super lightweight and the design is sleek and compact. The tablet is always ready to go and fits almost everywhere.
