Which iPads have Touch IDs? And is Touch ID still present in iPads?
The introduction of Touch ID singlehandedly changed the way we interact with our iPhones, iPads, and Macbooks. A touch of our finger is all that we need to authenticate with our devices biometrically.
Touch ID was later replaced with Face ID for premium iPads. Besides that, every iPad from a particular timespan had a Touch ID sensor present. Here’s a quick look at all of them:

Does iPad Pro Have Touch ID?
The latest iPad Pros now come with Face ID instead of Touch ID, which is a fantastic feature. I have had iPads with Touch ID and Face ID, and I will say this – Face ID is more comfortable, just by itsy bitsy. Sometimes, your fingers are a bit wet or sweaty, and it takes time, but with Face ID, there has never been an issue, even when it’s dark around you. Apple always wants to set its premium iPad models apart and enhance their features. That’s why they’ve introduced Face ID to the iPad Pros. Personally, I find Face ID to be a really convenient authentication system, making it even easier and more enjoyable to use my iPad Pro.

First iPad With Touch ID
The iPad Air 2, released on the 22nd of November, 2014, is the first iPad to feature Touch ID. This is because the iPad Air 2 was meant to act as a lightweight, more powerful version of its predecessor – iPad Air 1.
Most new features, prior to the release of the iPad Pro, were first experimented on with the iPad Air before making way to the more budget-oriented models like the iPad Mini and the original iPad.
Is Touch ID Secure?
Touch ID is extremely secure, and you shouldn’t be worried about people being able to log in to your iPad. However, this method of biometric authentication is still subject to targeted attacks. For instance, someone can extract your fingerprint from another surface and use it to unlock your iPad.
But, for the average Joe, Touch ID is extremely secure and is a great way to authenticate yourself on the iPad. You can also use Touch ID for In-App Purchases and Apple Pay which is a further testament to the trust Apple places in their implementation of fingerprint identification.
