iPad Magic Keyboard Not Connecting

If you have attached your iPad to the Magic Keyboard and it’s not connecting it doesn’t mean it’s broken, necessarily, there is a common error.

  • Try disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPad to the Magic Keyboard.
  • If Magic Keyboard is not working with a specific aff, reset the app.
  • Update iPad to the latest software.
  • Reset the iPad.

If that didn’t resolve the issue, try force restart on your iPad:

Quickly press and release ‘Volume Up Button’ then quickly press and release ‘Volume Down Button’ and then press and hold the ‘Power Button’ until you see Apple’s logo on the screen. This method can be used to resolve various errors.

Force restart won’t delete any of the data that’s stored on your iPad.

If that didn’t help

  • Disconnect Bluetooth accessories connected to the iPad to make sure they are not interfering.

The Trackpad Isn’t Working

Another common glitch is that you can type on your Magic Beyboard, the backlight is on, but the trackpad is not working.

  1. Clean the trackpad: If your trackpad isn’t working well, it might just be dirty. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe it clean. This can help it function better.
  2. Clean smart connector: Detach the iPad from the Magic Keyboard and clean the smart connectors gently with a lint-free cloth.
  3. Update your iPad’s software: Make sure your iPad is running the latest version of iPadOS. Go to Settings>General>Software Update and install any available updates.
  4. Restart your iPad: A simple restart can often resolve temporary software glitches.

Note: Some apps don’t support the Magic Keyboards trackpad, try using it on other applications. there might be a problem with the app you are using not with the keyboards.

Test the trackpad in a different app or on the home screen. If it works there, consider closing and reopening the app where it didn’t work. The issue might be a temporary glitch in that specific app.

If the trackpad still doesn’t work after following these steps, it might be a hardware issue. Consider contacting Apple Support or visiting an authorized service center for further assistance.

iPad Magic Keyboard Not Typing

The keyboard is connected to the iPad, you can see the backlight and the trackpad working, but the keys are not functioning.

  1. Try disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPad to the Magic Keyboard.
  2. Clean the smart connecter: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the Smart Connector on both the iPad and the Magic Keyboard. Dirt or debris may interfere with the connection.
  3. Update your iPad’s software to the latest iPadOS.
  4. Restart your iPad: A simple restart can often resolve temporary software issues.
  5. Enable and Disable Assistive Touch. Access Assistive Touch under Settings > Accessibility > Touch. You can also ask Siri to do it for you if you prefer voice commands.
  6. Disable other Bluetooth devices connected to the iPad.
  7. Try a different keyboard: If possible, test your iPad with a different keyboard to see if the issue is specific to the Magic Keyboard. This will help determine if the problem lies with the keyboard or with your iPad.
