From time to time, we all have guests, and not all of us know our WiFi password by heart. Sharing it can be time-consuming, so I found a way to share your WiFi password with your guests using an iOS shortcut.

You can create this shortcut on your iPad or iPhone. Once you are done, you can put this shortcut on your home screen so it’s easier to share with your guests. You can also print out the QR code and frame it somewhere in your living room.

Share Your WiFi Password with QR Code

You can download the WiFi password QR shortcut here, or you can create your own shortcut following my guide.

  • Open ‘Shortcut App’.
  • Tap on the ‘+’ button at the top to create a new shortcut.

  • Add the ‘Text’ field to your shortcut.

This is what you need to enter in the text: “WIFI:S:WIFINAME;T:WPA;P:PASSWORD;;” replace the “WIFINAME” with your real WiFi name and “PASSWORD” with your real password.

  • Add ‘Generate QR code from ‘Text’
  • Add ‘Quick Look’
  • Now rename your shortcut, add a unique icon, and put it on your home screen.

Every time you launch this shortcut, a QR code will appear on your device’s home screen, and other people will be able to scan the code and connect to your WiFi network without entering the password.

It’s a good idea to print this QR code from your iPad or iPhone and frame it somewhere where it’s accessible to your guests, which will save you the hassle.

Once you tap on the shortcut, it should look like this:

Ask your friends and guest to simply open their camera app and point at the QR code, it will automatically join the WiFi netowrk.
